The Butt Stops Here
Keep Blackstone Valley Beautiful is working with our national non-profit Keep America Beautiful to end cigarette litter in our area.
The Problem: “Butts — They’re Small, Butt They Are Litter”
Cigarette litter is the #1 littered item in the US and brings a host of problems to an area when these butts are not properly disposed.
Did you realize:
- cigarette litter reduces your property values
- encourages more litter to be dropped in that area
- is toxic waste
- puts harmful chemicals into our grounds & waterways
- kills animals
- is very costly and difficult to cleanup
- butts are not biodegradable
- takes away from the beauty of our environment
- can start dangerous fires
How KBVB is Helping: “Don’t Drop Your Butts – Find a Bin”
Through a generous grant from Keep America Beautiful, our affiliate was able to purchase and install fifty “Sidewalk Buttlers” style collection containers. KBVB have currently placed these in over 30 bus shelters and the remaining 20 are located in community areas where people tend to congregate and smoke.

More locations are coming! Another 25 locations have already been identified and are on
the list for a cigarette container. Once installed we will update our listing.
More free containers available. The great news is we can offer more containers to any
business or location that feels this would help at their location.
Educating Our Community
KBVB believes once our community understands the problem cigarette litter cause and realize how their simple actions can end this problem, our residents will never litter their butts.
